Optional: Run the Launcher from a USB Drive
Section titled “Optional: Run the Launcher from a USB Drive”The launcher is a single file. Running it from a removable drive is optional but improves isolation and leaves nothing behind on your system drive between sessions. If you have a spare USB stick, copy the freshly-downloaded launcher onto it and run it from there.
Don’t have a USB drive? A RAM-backed virtual drive works just as well and wipes itself on every reboot. See the Virtual USB Drive guide for setup instructions.
After use: Eject the drive when you are done (right-click it in File Explorer and select Eject), or just reboot, which clears a RAM disk automatically.
Products themselves never touch your disk. The launcher streams each product from our servers encrypted, decrypts it into memory, and launches it directly. That behaviour is not something you configure; it is how the launcher works by default.
Pre-Run Steps
Section titled “Pre-Run Steps”- Confirm your system meets the requirements listed above.
- Disable Windows Defender Real-time protection and any other antivirus software before running the launcher. Every launcher build is minted per-customer, unsigned, and randomly-named, which makes it a textbook heuristic false-positive.
- If Defender’s real-time protection cannot be turned off from the settings UI (managed device, tamper-protection on), grab Defender Control from Sordum (the original publisher), extract it, and run
dControl.exe-> Disable Windows Defender. You can flip it back on when you are done. - After downloading the launcher, right-click the file -> Properties -> tick Unblock -> click Apply. Windows attaches a Mark-of-the-Web to fresh downloads that blocks execution until you do this. Every launcher download has a unique random 8-character filename (for example
a1b2c3d4.exe); that is expected. - Run the launcher. On the first run on this PC the launcher locks your account to this machine automatically. On every later run it verifies the same PC and signs you back in.
