How to download, unblock, and run your MudCrab launcher, and how the first-run machine lock works.
The launcher only runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. macOS, Linux, and older versions of Windows are not supported. Wine / Proton is not supported either.
- After the payment confirms, we email a temporary password to the address you used at checkout. Go to the dashboard and sign in with that email + temporary password. The dashboard prompts you to choose a real password on first sign-in.
- Once signed in, you will see your Subscriptions and a Downloads and Resources section that includes the launcher itself.
- Click Download launcher (or the Download button on any subscription card). That mints a fresh copy from store.mudcrab.co/get-launcher and starts the download automatically. The file has a random 8-character name (for example
a1b2c3d4.exe), which is expected. Do not share this file with anyone: it is minted for your account and refuses to run under anyone else’s login. - Right-click the file, select Properties, tick Unblock, click Apply. Windows blocks freshly downloaded programs until you do this.
- Run the launcher and sign in with the same email and password you use on the store. On this first sign-in the launcher automatically locks itself to this PC. There is no separate helper tool, no code to paste, and nothing extra to configure.
- From then on, your account is locked to this PC. Trying to sign in on a different PC will be refused with a Hardware mismatch error. If you legitimately need to move to a new PC (dead hardware, new build), contact support to unlock it.
